In Heidelberg's central train station, there are buses (bus #34) going to Wilhemsfeld (buses are relatively cheap so don't worry). It's on your left if you're getting out of the station. The town is about 15-17 km from Heildelberg, 30 min to an hour uphill trip. Alternatively, you can take the taxis just outside the station. It's be a bit pricey though, reason why I didn't took one (around 20-30 euros!). A good point to start your tour in Wilhemfeld would be town hall. Good luck.

Hello! I found your blog while searching about Wilhelmsfeld as I am very interested in Jose Rizal. May I ask for your help? :) I´m currently at Frankfurt, so my plan is to take a train to Heidelberg, visit a few places there and then go to Wilhemsfeld.

And so my question is, where exactly (in Heidelberg) will I find the bus that would take me to Wilhelmsfeld and how much is the fare? And if they have a website?

Maraming salamat and I hope to hear from you soon! :)

@ Colin - I like the stories of the Ullmer's about Rizal. He really became part of that German family. Pastor Ullmer, upon hearing the death of a man with the same name, inquired with the German embassy in Manila if it was the same man. The embassy confirmed. Ullmer was saddened with the terrible news. That's just sad. Rizal really made an impression with those folks.

I've been there also just last Sunday, July 15, 2012.
We have the same impression; a beautiful place.
But what a great sacrifice on the part of Rizal to walk through that forrest and mountains every day for 6 hours back and forth purposely to acquire medical knowledge for his mother.

My visit was on summer time, yet the temperature was 12 degrees. Suddenly, a strong rain arrived with some ice balls in short time. I could not imagine how was that during his time when cars were not there yet. No wonder why he oftenly had a fever.
